During Queensland Multicultural Month, events will be taking place from Queensland’s far north to the south east. Some of the highlights include the Townsville Cultural Festival, the Toowoomba Languages and Cultures Festival, and the Gold Coast Multicultural Festival.

Highlight events

Multicultural Race Day – 4 August

Brisbane Racing Club hosted a multicultural festival at the races on Saturday 4 August celebrating cultural diversity with food, music and photo opportunities. Check out photos from the day.

EKKA – 10 to 19 August

Find us at the Multicultural Plaza at this year's Ekka where you can sample flavours from all over the globe while listening to performances from a range of talented musicians. We look forward to seeing you at the Brisbane Showgrounds from 10 to 19 August.

Culture Train regional music tour – 17 to 31 August

A group of Queensland multicultural performers travel to communities in regional and remote Queensland to host free workshops and performances.

This transcultural musical journey through some of Queensland’s most remote towns takes the concept of cultural and musical harmony to new levels with more than 25,000 regional Queenslanders enjoying the tour in 2017.

Queensland Multicultural Awards – 19 August

The Queensland Multicultural Awards – held this year at the Hilton, Brisbane on 19 August – recognise the valuable contributions of Queenslanders who support and promote a united, harmonious and inclusive Queensland community.

The awards presentation is a highly anticipated annual event for Queensland’s multicultural community, bringing together representatives from a range of community and corporate groups and other key contributors to our state’s rich multicultural identity.
