The Blackwater East Priority Development Area (PDA) was declared at the request of Central Highlands Regional Council (CHRC) on 21 June 2013 and provides an opportunity to support economic development and facilitate development in response to the future growth needs in the Bowen Basin.
The PDA is located east of the existing Blackwater township and north of the Capricorn Highway, adjoining the existing Blackwater PDA. The area is currently vacant land and covers an area of approximately 130 hectares.
Development of the PDA will seek to cater for future growth through the delivery of a sustainable community that offers housing, diversity, accessibility and choice.
Delegation of development assessment powers to Central Highlands Regional Council
