As part of the Queensland Government’s economic recovery package, the Premier announced on 19 May 2020 an initial $200 million in 2020-21 for a COVID Works for Queensland program that will immediately support jobs over the next year.

The new $200 million COVID Works for Queensland program will be available to all Queensland councils, not just regional Queensland as with previous rounds of the $600 million Works for Queensland program. This is in recognition that the economic impact and associated unemployment as a result of the COVID-19 crisis is affecting all of Queensland, particularly the South East corner.

The COVID Works for Queensland program will support all Councils undertake job-creating and job-sustaining productive building projects, including projects focused on essential services, economic development and recovery, and community well-being.

More information on the Program, including Program guidelines, application and assessment processes will be available shortly.
